Working to Time Scales

Pre-production-planning
Production-Obtain the 'materials'
Post-production-editing

      When Planning:
Who is going to do each task(need to focus on specific skills and abilities)
Scheduling- when each task needs to be done and how long will each task take. Dependencies; when one task needs to be done before another can be completed or begun. Milestones; (Checkpoints to ensure work is up to standard and on schedule)and deadlines are essential to good management)
Resource Allocation- What is required for each task(what equipment and resources are needed)
Report Creation- how have the team completed each task( ensure the group is communicating during each task and reflecting on how effectively the team is working together)

When reading the brief, establish what the key deadlines are, establish who they effect the most in your team, what needs to be done by those deadlines.

Pre-production- during planning each individual task needs careful scheduling in a linear fashion-milestones are crucial here.
Dependencies & contingencies & milestones: Budgeting, research, functions of website, ideas, making sure the legality of whats happening is okay to happen, complete each task to complete up to different deadlines.

Production-production needs to be monitored to ensure:
Production is the action of making or manufacturing from components or raw materials, or the process of being so manufactured.
  • Individuals set targets within the team
  • Personnel, locations, props/costumes and equipment are booked well in advance
  • Regular meetings to ensure everyone is on task- again milestones
  • Regular meetings with the clients to ensure they are happy with what is being produced and allow for modifications
Dependencies & contingencies & milestones: If the client doesn't like the work; will have to be prepared for changes, also having back up ideas and materials needed for the production.

Contingencies:

  • back up location
  • back up cast member
  • extra time allocated for tasks
  • additional/replacement tasks if one does/n't work out.

Notes here are fine and cover everything covered in class - the only thing I would suggest is that you add in a stronger definition of what production is. From a layout perspective you could perhaps also add in highlights for specific new terminology.

Please add a comment below reflecting on my comments and explaining any changes you have made.
