exam perfection

Planning Perfect audiences

Cross comparing with the mark scheme to make perfect answer-

1- identify two costs that you may need to consider when developing a new phone app and explain how these costs impact on the project (6)
One form of costs could be personnel- paying a graphic designer if no one on your team has the skills to design the app layout. This will take a big chunk out of your budget but will lead to the app looking more professional, so putting aside some of the budget for staff will benefit the project. Paying for copyright in order to avoid your designs being taken. Though protecting your intellectual property may cost money and take up some time for your apps development, your work will remain safe and protected.

2- identify one act of legislation that is applicable to the creation of a new national newspaper and explains what impact it has (3)
One mark for the act of legislation and two marks for an explanation of the impact.
Eg.

-Human Rights Act 1998 – impact relates to the stories they are able to write – is a story in the public interest?

-Data Protection Act 1998 – when reporting on stories, journalists must not contain so many details in the article that the person can be found.

-copy right law- copying the layout or titles of popular newspapers would break copy right law and the original newspapers can sue the new national newspapers

3- As you work for the company your ideas belong to the company, this is also for legal rights, giving the company full control of your ideas. Its also ethical and will stop any uncertainty over the rights to the idea.

4- One revenue stream websites can use are subscription service- where consumers pay monthly /weekly for the websites content. This creates a steady stream of revenue for the site and keeps the consumers and company happy.

Revenue streams:
·       Banner ads of companies approached personally
·       Editorial name drops/product placement
·       Reviews
·       Adsense adverts in side bars
·       Subscription
·       Sales of merchandise

5- One ethical issue could be language barrier as the refugees and the producers may not understand each other properly and it can lead to misunderstanding and confusion in what is trying to be happen. It may not be clear to the refugees what they are doing or supposed to be doing which can affect the documentary and can lead to problems as translations will be needed for the refugees, which would impact the documentary financially as they would need to hire translators.

Another ethical issue would be identity protection, as many of  the refugees could be hiding or running away from danger and being in a documentary would put them at risk. It would impact the documentary as they would have to figure out another way to film the documentary or blur out the faces of the refugees. Doing this would impact the documentary on a time frame as it may take more time to protect the refugees and keep them safe. For reassurance the team could give the refugees a contract, which would also impact the team financially as they would need to hire translators and advisors might be needed.

Your reflected answers here are strong and a definite improvement on your test responses. They explain well and show a good understanding of the mark scheme requirements. However, you are missing question six - please add these as soon as possible.

Very thorough notes which deal with each issue very well. Your use of examples is strong and well done for getting all three of the presentations on your blog. Your group in particular produced a presentation which is very easy navigate and will aide your revision well.

Please add a comment below reflecting on my comments and explaining any changes you have made.
